Accounting package for preparing financials

Accounting package for preparing financials

Didn't find your answer?

This is the first year of my start up accounting practice and I have a few clients.

I am debating whether to buy an accounting package.  I do not really need books and records since the clients' books are all fairly simple, about 10 entries per month so am planning on using excel.

What accounting packages are available to prepare the financials? I would use HMRC software for tax, does this include pro formas for the financials? What about abbreviated accounts?

Thanks for any help.

By "financials", do you mean

By "financials", do you mean annual accounts?  VT is a good all round accounts production package, that integrates nicely with Excel, and seamlessly produces the ixbrl version you will need if the clients are companies.

Have a look at VT Accounts.  It works within Excel to produce statutory accounts and tax comps.  You can either import an Excel TB or use their own Excel based bookkeeping software (the basic one, VT Cash Book, may be all you need and comes free with VT Accounts).

I use it for statutory accounts (still bookkeeping on an older version of Quickbooks).  It was recommended to me by the good people on here and I am happy to pass on the recommendation.

VT

Switched from Sage Accounts Production Advanced to VT.

VT is so much better it's almost funny.
