Accounting software for Time/Project Accounting

Background:  The company is a business consultancy and will have an ACCA qualified accountant 'doing the books' as well as providing consultancy.  We are struggling to find a good simple software package to assist in recording the time that the consultants spend on incoming projects/jobs to identify personal 'revenue', and that will allocate shared running costs/overheads to a personal "P&L". (ideally it needs to have multiple accounting dimensions in the chart of accounts) We have found www.freeagent.com which includes time accounting,  is there any others out there within a modest budget?  Many thanks

Yes, I'm sure you'll find other facilities out there, maybe XERO + their WorkFlow Max add-on? But for simplicity and a reasonable price, FreeAgent is great. 

I had a firm of Consultants use it for precisely this purpose and, whilst the reporting and some accounting is not as sophisticated as say XERO, the top end project time/cost/billing element is what sold it to them.  I also use it for my books.

I'm a FreeAgent advocate, and it can definitely do much of what you want.  My query would be around the identifying "personal revenue".

Guessing by this you mean keeping track of how much each consultant earns, so profits can be split accordingly?

I imagine you probably can do this, setting up different income/expenditure categories (ie "Sales - John", "Sales - Julie" etc) similarly with specific cost codes.  I don't think there's currently any easy way to run a P&L just showing some codes though, so you'd need to manually do that outside the software.

It's got a free trial, have a play...

you may want to check keepek. Timesheets are linked to the invoicing module, which allow you to identify revenues by users. You can also easily invite third parties such as consultant and contractors to the platform.
