AccountingWeb meetup?

AccountingWeb meetup?

Didn't find your answer?

Note: this Any Answers thread is from May and has just been bumped to the front page in case anyone missed out.

As a result of Tim's recent suggestion I'm picking things for an AccountingWeb meetup. It's about time we all got together.

I am pleased to announce that I've booked the Terrace (fancy) for us all at Kensington Roof Gardens, for 4th July from 6pm.

I would find it really helpful if you could email me with your AccountingWeb/true identity, so I can put together a guest list.

For anyone outside of London, how about coming anyway? It's one night only. By pre booking a train ticket from Thetrainline , your bound to get an good offer.

Also...I'm going to ask Tim nicely to put some money towards the bar bill ;)

Looking forward to meeting you all.

Lizzie :)

Interested in meeting

I attended the last one organised by KentAccountant last October, so probably time for another meet up.

@FT

Just turn up and pretend to be someone else, after all that's what most of us do on here with our Avatars and carefully crafted user names.

I'm actually a Cornish Tin Miner living in St Ives and just like to pretend I'm an accountant (Chartered - FCA)

Another bean to count
Also attended last years meet up so definitely keen on doing so again. Early July somewhere central London seems good, just down the road for me, well......100 miles down the M1, but any excuse for a beer and a chat about the latest accounting standards is difficult to refuse. 4th or 11th July perhaps as Thursdays were mentioned?

It is. Maybe I can corner you and you can show me how to not be a boring accountant? I warn you that it may take a few hours before you see any sign of progress!

@FirstTab

FT, if you are concerned about putting in an appearance, do what I did at last year's and send someone pretending to be you, I sent a particularly good looking young chap who said he enjoyed himself and has since had 2 offers of marriage.

Consequently I'll do my best to be there in person this year.

Watch out London...

Sunny hellos to you all. What a great response! Including the initial post, there should be about 30 of us in total.

Shall we all put a date down for Thursday 4th July, as early July seems to be a popular request. And as they say...Thursdays are the new Fridays ;)

If you watch this space for a central London location for a 6pm start time - we'll have the next AccountingWeb meetup sorted!

Really looking forward to meeting you all.

Will update you soon.

Lizzie :)

Somewhere with a wow factor

Hi John,

Great to hear you'll be coming too :) Hope you had a nice time away.

I'm going to find a place as awesome as the Duck & Waffle. Perhaps Kensington Roof Gardens...We all deserve a beautiful setting don't we?

I'll keep you all posted!

More names for my list...I love a list

Hi folks,

Hope you are having a good start to your week.

Just as a gentle poke, please can all those interested in attending the AccountingWeb meetup let me know with a quick email? I'm putting together a guest list, and a drinks budget for us all...as I'm sure you'll be super thirsty whilst basking in the sun on top of the Kensington Roof Gardens ;)

Details:

Date: 4th July

Time: 6pm onwards

Place: Kensington Roof Gardens, the Terrace.

Do you think I should create a brand new Any Questions post with this information, in case others missed the detail confirmation?

You've got to attend! You are the new star of AccountingWeb.

You could always stay at the Royal Garden Hotel for a few nights and make a long weekend of it. It's not cheap, though!

@mrme89 ... Batley - not too far at all

I regularly went to the Batley Variety Club in my younger days. Is it still in existence?

Peter - you could combine a family visit with a meeting in Yorkshire. I'd love to know what you're like in real life.   :)

Batley Variety is still there but is now called Frontier. Always a good night when they put madness on!

In fact when I was the Secretary of my local working mens, the CIU used to send us around 5 tickets to go, free meal and a pint included.

I tend to go to the Batley Nash (an irish club), Saturday nights are like something off Pheonix Nights, it's brilliant.
