Accounts software

Accounts software

Didn't find your answer?

I have a client who has several Ltd Companies doing online trading.  The Companies are all startup so money is tight at present.  He has asked me if there is a cheap accounts program that will do multi company.  I currently use Sage but this would work out expensive for more than one Company.  Does anyone have experience of other programs or recommendations?

Depends on whether you want cloud integration

If you just want a "book-keeping" system independent of the potential for import/export of data from other online systems, such as your websites, internet bank feeds, etc., then you can't do cheaper/better than VT Transaction+ which is about £130 for multi company and is a very good basic ledger based book-keeping system, but's it's desktop based and hasn't any great functionality for import/export of data from other sources.  A good alternative if you were thinking of doing it on Sage desktop as VT is cheaper and easier.

If you want web/cloud based for integration etc., then I'd say Kash Flow is one of the best and simplest to use, but it would work out expensive as it's billed "per company".  Not aware of any cloud based systems that are multi-company for single fee so they could all work out quite costly.
