Advice re changing career path please
I am a 41 year old new mum who has always enjoyed 'working with numbers', started off in a bank and fell into accounts work after a period of self employment, and then completed AAT in 9 months. Currently working ft 4 days a week as Financial Controller doing monthly management accounts for two companies and statutory accounts for three. Thinking about trying to build my own business selling accounts and business services. I have helped a couple of start ups get off the ground informally and enjoyed that, so I think that would be my business sector. My concern is I am not a salesperson and whilst I have reasonable technical ability, I am unsure I can get out there and close the deal with new potential clients. I also have no idea where to pitch my price and how to stay up to date and answer what I know are sure to basic things I don't know, having qualified 14 years ago in AAT - I passed 8 or 9 modules of CIMA (there were 12 modules in total at the time) but it wasn't relevant to my job or the type of job I wanted, and seemed like a waste of time. Is there a refresher course or something I could do, or should I stick to what I'm doing? I am also a qualified Hypnotherapist but again am not a salesperson so only see family and friends for this, and there is strong competition in this where I live.
