Advisory Fuel Rates

Advisory Fuel Rates

Didn't find your answer?

Hi All,

I should know this. But I don't.

Do the temporary workplace rules restrict tax deductibility of reimbursements of Company Car fuel under the AFR?

Cheers

Chris

I thought you were on strike anyway.

To expand: Car provided to person A by Company B.

A pays for the fuel.

A claims expenses from B at the Advisory Fuel Rates.

B reimburses expenses.

A's assignment for B breaches the temporary workplace rules.

Are the AFR reimbursements captured or would it only be for reimbursements under approved mileage rate?

Basically what I am getting at is to question if there is any difference in treatment between a company owned and a privately owned vehicle.

Specific

Yeah - it's a bit too vague for me, too.

The short answer is "no" but I'm not sure I'm answering the question you intended to ask.

Captured ?

If you mean that the journey is not a tax allowable journey then any reimbursement of the fuel cost should be taxed.
