Hello
I would like to seek advice on a matter.
Recently, someone contacted me and want to use my services for their self assessment matters. He provided me his UTR and address. He gave me copy of letter which he received from HMRC.
I tried to submit the request using my online account to request authorisation but the message appear that "HMRC could not recognized the person using details provided", some details could be wrong.
I have copy of letter which he has received from hmrc and I entered all details according to that letter still HMRC's system unable to recognized him.
He did not changed his details ever and all information mentioned in the letter are correct. I contacted HMRC and they confirmed that details are correct but system is able to recognize the details.
Can anyone advice me on this matter.

I had this trouble a few years ago and ended up sending a 64-8, HMRC couldn't explain why the online authorisation wasn't working so it was easier just to send the 64-8 off in the post
... and then ...
... wait for 3 months.
But I agree. Been there, did the same in the end.
With kind regards
