Hi
I have a self employed client who has a twin cab pick up. I believe that HMRC classify this as a van.
The vehicle was purchased in the last tax year, second hand. Am I able to claim 100% AIA for this?
If so, the vehicle is split 90% for business and 10% for private. Would I need to apportion the allowance claim?
thanks

Yes you can claim AIA. You
Yes you can claim AIA. You restrict the WDA to the business proportion only, so the private element is wasted.
Provided it is a van (use https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/hm-revenue-and-customs-car-de...) then yes and yes.

I want to buy a second hand VW Caddy Maxi van for my gardening business, and claim the cost back through AIA. There are no VWs listed on the above document so, before buying the vehicle, how can I make sure it is classified by HMRC as a van rather than a car?
Thanks

Hi Jon,

I'd recommend starting your own thread where you may get a response or directing your query to your accountant.
