Alternative to SAGE

Alternative to SAGE

Didn't find your answer?

I know that this may be irritating to some members of AWEB but I am looking for comments/advice about accounting software.  I have used SAGE for many years but have been looking at other packages and what they can offer - in particular Money Soft Money Manager and VT and would be grateful for any views on these packages.

I have tried to find previous posts in relation to this topic but my IT skills have failed me, obviously I am asking the wrong question as I can only find the most recent post.

Thank you in anticipation.

The inbuilt search function on this site is unfortunately pretty rubbish - but if you try just googling "Accountingweb VT" you will find plenty of threads.

Suggest you use Google search ...

for any Aweb searches

i.e. Google search terms '.. accountingweb accounts packages ..'

Far more chance of finding what you are looking for because Google can index Aweb better than they can themselves

This site lacks some basic features that are found in many 24 hours blogs forums. I am a member of many blogs. It is not user friendly how to copy and paste ( cut and copy), not only from the same page, but from other applications. I sometimes feel  I lack some basic IT skills when I am on this site.

VT endorsement
You'll find that there are many fans of VT. I would say that it's not pretty but it's the fastest product out there for inputting data, so easy to amend transactions and errors. Great value. I'm probably in the minority in that I do actually like Sage but it's got a bit bloated over the years and by making it look prettier it's lost out to the simplicity and low price of other products such as VT.

Don't forget the other cloud based packages, Xero, Clearbooks etc.

There's plenty of choice out there.

What's the reason for you wanting to change?

VT

For speed of entry, easy correction of posting errors, re-assignments of transactions, etc., VT can't be beaten.  We've trailled virtually all the other desktop book-keeping systems, paid for and freebies, and most of the cloud systems, and nothing comes close for basic book-keeping, incomplete records work, etc.  It has a few limitations, such as not dealing with CIS or flat rate VAT automatically, and it's reports aren't quite as flexible and sophisticated as, say Quickbooks, but it's fine for 99% of the jobs of the typical book-keeper or small practice.
