I am planning to start my own business later this year, not actively looking for any business for the time being, but one or two people have approached me anyway. So I thought I would get myself registered as an HMRC agent and get the online systems set up.
From my reading, it appeared that I should write to the "Central Agent Maintainer Team" to request that they register me and send me some agent codes. I duly sent off a letter, I did not find a registration form. That was over a month ago and have heard nil back to date.
Should I have heard something by now or have I not gone about this the right way?
Very grateful for any reassurances or tips!

My experience
Reorganising the business I had to apply for new company to be agent this year, wrote on 11th March, received reply dated 23rd March on 1st April - three weeks so I would have expected a reply by now, although given our general experience of HMRC and letters I may have been lucky
Mine took two follow-up letters too but in reality it was a ten-week backlog/turnaround that was the issue (irrespective of the assurances to the contrary on my telephoned general enquiry)
Irritating but I'd imagine unavoidable.
In same position
Just to keep this thread ticking over, I'm also in the position of waiting for an agent code and wondering how long I might have to wait. Does anyone know if there is a telephone number which is worth trying?
