is anybody using iris and sql server standard 2014?

is anybody using iris and sql server standard...

Didn't find your answer?

We are going to try using iris cloud hosted by a third party and it seems a good time to update sql also. Please does anyone have any experiences of using iris with sql server 2014? The iris support page says it is expected to be tested and officially compatible October 2015, their phone support hinted it would probably work ok. I shall also have to compare the cost vs iris supplied runtime version of sql standard 2012.

Why not use IRIS hosting and then you know it will all be compatible?

sql and iris

Clarification of situation for other folks. I thought other users would be on sql 2012 or maybe 2014 but it turns out Iris only supply sql 2008 r2.  Microsoft changed the licensing model for SQL 2012 onwards in a seemingly unpopular fashion that has maybe complicated things for iris. It seems iris supplied run time version of sql 2008 r2 standard does not have software assurance to give free upgrades (although we did previously get free upgrade from sql 2005?!). The official line from iris is "we are currently in talks with Microsoft" and I expect it will get resolved eventually, probably expensively for us users?

SQL 2012 is however officially supported by iris, 2014 has not been tested yet.

as regards cost of iris hosting there are already posts covering this topic.

Ouch

IRIS + upgrading Microsoft server license + cloud hosting service = lots of money.

I hope it ends up working...
