Anyone else experiencing issues with sage 50 payroll

Anyone else experiencing issues with sage 50...

Didn't find your answer?

Earlier this evening I submitted an fps. All appeared fine and I received the confirmation email from HMRC. Left my pc for about half an hour but didn't log out of payroll. When I returned I opened the next company I wanted to submit an Fps for but all the menu links for rti submissions had disappeared except for the e submissions log which shows all the previous submissions. Have checked the other companies I run payroll for and the same had happened in them even in the one where I had successfully done the fps earlier this evening. Thought about doing a restore but noticed that the option to restore rti files had also disappeared! My pc hasn't crashed and everything else seems to be running normally. Have tried rebooting but makes no difference. Will be phoning sage in the morning but if anyone else has any thoughts or have experienced the same issue would love to hear from them. Seriously wondering if I'm going mad or if rti was just a dream......

RTI

Just gone to run all the monthly wages and the RTI and FPS Submissions have gone, anyone heard how to get them back?

It happened before at year end and it's a server issue at Sage. When you load up the software it creates a link to their servers and when they have a particular issue all of the RTI functionality drops out of view.

Sometimes logging out and logging in will work (not for me today) and also changing to prior year and back again will work (again not or me today).

Known issue
I have talked to sage this morning it is a problem they are aware of and expect to get it resolved layer today. Gave me the impression that it was going to correct itself so I suspect that it is at there end rather than the programme

Same here

Same problem here and no way to get through on the helpline.

Will Sage be refunding us for any late RTI submission penalties resulting from this issue?

Same here but we were able to talk to our account manager who said it should be fixed today.
We intend any fines/penalties to land on Sage's door PDQ.

Sage FPS line

Yes us as well. Have you also noticed that the last update and process date information has been a bit erratic - sometimes the dates have been showing, and on other days not? Noticed it around year end . Also the dates reports were last run also questionable. Some update and some, particularly the payslip report, doesn't always update to show it has been printed.

Good old Sage, volume of calls increases = your call is important to us so we will automatically cut you off!   (well it might as well be!) Couldn't you just say we have a problem in this area which we are working on and you can keep up with progress by doing x?

Oh, when will they ever learn?

And people are still using Sage 60 years later!  Save yourselves the hassle and the money by getting Moneysoft Payroll Manager.

Well said, Euan

We have recently taken payroll/CIS back in-house, and tried some free software initially in case we decided to find another payroll bureau. The software was very time consuming so I bought Moneysoft Payroll Manager based on all the recommendations that get posted on here. We love it! I doubt we will find anything quicker, or simpler to use.

Might not be just Sage

Sage are aware of the problem and are working on it, they now have a message popping up when you open the software saying so.

But there is also a Known Issue on HMRC Service Issues for PAYE saying they have a problem with RTI submissions too, so maybe it's that causing the problem and not Sage

Now working

It's now working again

At least with Sage it's easy to submit the RTI's for all companies in the software in one go, so you don't have to go back into each company one at a time to submit

How does that make Sage special?

With Moneysoft, you can file RTI reports for all companies in a single batch.

But why wouldn't you file the FPS at the same time that you have gone into the company to process the payroll, rather than leaving it to later (and possibly not doing it on or before the payroll date) and having to go back into each company?

Fixed

Fine for me too.

Could someone please let me know who you file the RTI reports in a batch?  I didn't know this was possible.

Sage Batch Submission

Confused it's easy, and thanks for proving my comment was aimed at people who may not know

Go to Tasks menu, Company, Multi Company Tasks

Change Type to esubmissions

Change Tasks to Submit FPS

Select all at the bottom (assuming you want to do all) then Run Task

Errr ..because it was not working earlier?

Really, who would be that stupid to forget to file 'on or before'.

I do file each RTI as I process the payroll. But I always run the batch filing before closing the software to make sure I didn't miss any if I got interrupted whilst processing all 30 odd weekly payrolls, plus this week all the monthly ones

But today it wasn't working, so I did all the payrolls as usual this morning so the clients got the payslips and, now it's working again, I have filed all the RTI's as one batch.

My comment was aimed at Sage payroll users who may not know about batch filing, not for the Sage haters to question my methods or the reasons I choose to use Sage

I sense hostility.

To be fair, if I used Sage, I would spend most of my working life hostile.

Sage may not be our personal choice but if like mine your employers are totally committed to SAGE then you just have to get on with it.
It doesn't make us bad people, honest!!
