I thought I would download the free offering "101 Tax Investigation Secrets Revealed". In order to do so I had to agree to the site's T&C.
They are here ... https://www.accountingweb.co.uk/terms. The accompanying Privacy Policy - which is an integral part of the T&C - is here ... https://www.accountingweb.co.uk/privacy.
There are yet more links to other sites to read in the Privacy Policy but I haven't gone that far. Yet. I don't have the time.
Does anyone else find all this burdensome and excessive?
I am mindful of Garrod v HMRC.....

I read their privacy policy with trepidation.
Is my anonymity under threat?
It seems they can sell my details to anyone they wish.
HMRC
T & C 's are up there too.
I think that where you have no option but to use the agree box, such as existing software updates, no other options, etc there should be a law passed which deems them to be unlawful.
When Iris took over PTP and introduced a 3 month notice period I complained. Turned out even though when I bought my product the clause did not exist, by loading the dividend feed update I had agreed to the change. As I had paid for the dividend information up front I was not the least happy with this an ended up cancelling all the products I could.
I was on HMRC yesterday and received a warning that my browser might not work for accessing Online services after 30 September if I didn't use a particular protocol. I followed the link for my system to be assessed and no surprise when it told me my system was bad as it accessed unsecure cipher suites.
If you are uncertain about the type of secure connection your browser or other software can support, you can check it at
and other similar services.
Talk about over my head - my IT friend looked and said it should work okay but how do I know if one of these insecure suites matters
Ts&Cs make me so angry. They
Ts&Cs make me so angry. They're one of many ways solicitors have ruined humanity.
I think there should be a standard set of default Ts&Cs that apply to all transactions worldwide. Then individual companies can have no more than a few bullet points of specific Ts&Cs which they can insist people agree to.
