Associated Companies

Didn't find your answer?

If one company is owned 50/50 by 2 directors and they each own another copmay to the tune of 100%, are they associated with each other for CT purposes?

Unlikely that they are all associated

But they could be. Or company 1 might be associated with either 2 or 3. Or perhaps not associated at all. People really do need to learn to provide meaningful information if they want meaningful replies.

In any event, why do you think it matters?

Its just for the small companies rate box on a company tax return, although the profits of all 3 copmanise combined is well under the upper limit for the rate.

s.25 CTA/10 as such doesn't exist any more. If the query relates to a previous year you need to examine if two companies are under the control of the same person(s). Control could be exercised not only by having equity stake or voting power but also as a consequence of being entitled to greater part of the assets on winding up etc.
