Following on from a Friends of auto enrolment meeting I recently attended in Bristol, it got me thinking about how clients have reacted when accountants approached them regarding auto enrolment.
Some of the attendees shared anecdotes from excuses some of their clients gave if for example they had joined past their staging date - i.e. some didn't realise it was something they had to do because it wasn't in an official government brown envelope, for example.
So if you have approached clients about auto enrolment, then have you come up against any good or funny reactions? How are clients reacting to it - do they know anything about it at all? Are they making excuses for not staging yet?
Remember, you can help spread the word by getting on board with No One Gets Left Behind, Aweb's educational campaign, too.

Education is the way forward
Bureaus have a real opportunity to offer auto enrolment as a service. There is so much confusion out there surrounding employers duties. I was also reading an article from the Pensions Regulator that confirms that a lot of small businesses didn't even realise that Auto Enrolment applies to them?! The regulator is also trying to spread the word to employers with their Act now, it's the law advertising campaign.
A small thing like emailing or sharing this information on social media would help to position bureaus as the ‘go to’ when it comes to auto enrolment. There is a genuine platform to also make some additional revenue. BrightPay become a supporter of the No One Gets Left Behind campaign last week. Spread the word.
