Aweb search facility ...

Still struggling with the Aweb search - which may be the reason why so many repeat questions are posted in Any Answers

On what basis is the search performed

  • Thread titles only
  • Thread titles and/or comments titles
  • Full text

When a search is requested Aweb frequently does not find information ones knows full well to be on the site. In fact it is sometimes better to use Google to find references in the Aweb site than your own search engine - which seems strange

Furthermore, the Aweb search does not seem to display the search text requested as the text associated with the heading

Example - lookling for
http://www.accountingweb.co.uk/article/hartnett-admits-%E2%80%98mistake%E2%80%99-during-mp-grilling/519821

Aweb search - 'Goldman Sachs virus' - found page 2 6th entry -
Associated search text - brokered a “secret, cut-price tax deal” with Goldman Sachs, adding that the claims contradicted

Google search - 'accountingWeb Goldman Sachs virus' - found page 1 4th entry
Associated search text - 12 Oct 2011 – In 2002 Goldman Sachs devised a scheme of cross-currency swaps .... and so the virus of indolence will continue to spread downwards

The above also means that your 'relevance' grouping is way off beam because otherwise the answer should be on the first page and not further down out of sight

So basically Google is searching the entire universe and can find the required text, whereas Aweb is searching 300k-1m entries(?) and cannot seem to find info in their own Db
