Why ...
... do you ask?
But my response - to echo others - is yes to both parts. Very useful for those genuinely seeking answers to technical questions. Then there are those that attempt to join the site with the sole intention of causing trouble and wasting everyone's time (sadly, often successfully).
Is this question useful or a big time waster?
Why ask whether a website is useful on the website itself?
useful
It is the best place to start looking for any accounting/tax/vat issue
it also links professionals, brings in business, and enhances the advice and support given to taxpayer clients
Depends ...
How its used - large resource, if only you can find the info
Also gets repetitive when same questions appear time after time - although seach is not very helpful
Nevertheless perhaps Aweb should just tell everyone to use Google for searching
Essential
Keeps me in touch with the wider accounting world being public sector based for some years.

I don't think you can single out just one site. The internet's a big waste of time, but it's also rather useful.
I would say very useful
for example, recently I was reading a very interesting post on the merits or demerits of using a timesheet.
where else are you going to find information like this?!
Sorry folks - just had to clean up a few posts. If you spot anything that breaks the community rules please do just report and ignore it and we'll make sure it's dealt with ASAP.
Like everything in life, we at AWEB recommend enjoying this site and the 'net in general to a reasonable degree. We're always glad to see people finding the site both a useful resource and a place to spend some time away from work. It's always our aim to inform and entertain (and the two can, of course, often cross over) in equal measure!

Useful source of information
Annoying distraction if you're struggling to knuckle down to work.
Useful
AW has always been a reference source. Thanks to all the contributors. For example I was looking how others are trying to deal with owner managed enterprises and RTI and found some good comments.
