Benefits in kind if earnings are less that £8,500

Benefits in kind if earnings are less that £8,500

Didn't find your answer?

If a director is receiving no salary from their employer but is having their gym membership by the company at say £2,000 how is this best reported to the revenue.

I appreciate the £8,500 threshold is being abolished from April 2016.but this transaction is prior to this date.

The particular director has other income from outwith the company that could take him into higher rates.

I am sure there is a simple explanation and would appreciate some feedback.

Thanks

£8,500 threshold

doesn't apply to directors generally, subject to limited exclusions.

Have a look here:

http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/manuals/eimanual/eim20007.htm

If not excluded then report on P11D as normal.

Pecuniary liability

A gymn membership sounds personal.

If company paying personal bill surely the £8500 threshold doesn't apply anyway and the payments should just be made through payroll.
