Bookkeping software

Bookkeping software

Didn't find your answer?

Hi

One of my new client have 6 off license nisa local shops all are incorporated under a single company.

He wants me to do the bookkeeping only (initially) of all six shops altogether as a single shop by using a bookkeeping software. With a view that he can find all his suppliers outstanding balances on the weekly basis.

But I want to use a cloud based Bookkeeping Software with the option that i can do his all six shops bookkeeping and accounts separately and at the end obviously i can combine all six accounts.

Currently I use excel for bookkeeping and taxcal for accounts and tax.

Will really appreciate if someone recommend good, fit for the purpose and most economical software.

thanks in advance.

Kashflow would be ok

You might use one Kashflow account and use the 'projects' option for each shop. Its pretty inexpensive.

Quickbooks online

QB online would be a good option.  You can separate the income/expenses by assigning each transaction to each shop using departments, at the same time as classifying the transactions into nominal codes as usual, so you have three dimensional reporting.  Talking of reporting, the reports are fully customisable and far superior to most other cloud systems.  The VAT entry and reporting is also very comprehensive if you need to analyse your ins and outs if you're using any different VAT scheme (such as retail schemes), as you can have different VAT codes for the same VAT rate (unlike say Kashflow which only analyses on VAT rate).  Can be just as cheap as Kashflow, (if not cheaper), as accountants can get it at a very competitive price.

I would use Xero and their tracking feature

The best solution would be Xero and then use the tracking feature for each shop. Shared overheads would need allocating across each shop, (probably based on turnover) e.g. accountancy That way he can run profit and losses per shop and for the business as a whole. As is it online he could invite you in and you could give him regular business advice

Happy to give you/your client a demo - email me on [email protected]

Xero

Agree with the above comments that Xero sounds like it would work in this instance.

As the above post states there would be several advantages to using this. To answer you economical query - it would probably be the "standard" subscription of £20 per month plus VAT (assuming there's no foreign currency). There can be unlimited users on this too.

Xero themselves do free trials, or many accountancy firms do too as the post above offers (and mine offers the same service).

How do you get to offer free trials? Xero makes me pay as son as I set a client up.

Xero free trials

https://www.xero.com/uk/

Click on "use Xero for free" and you can get a 30 day trial.

As someone above mentions you can also do it through an accountancy firm that offers trials, such as my firm or David Kime, and then there can also be some support offered in terms of any queries you have. Alternatively please feel free to contact me if you do have any queries.

The Xero videos are useful for this too though.
