Brand licensing

Brand licensing

Didn't find your answer?

Can anyone provide me with advice on the treatment of a purchased brand license?

The purchased brand license will be able to be used over a period of 10 years.

What I would like to know is it there any scope to treat this as an intangible asset?  I believe that it will satisfy the identifiable, control and future ecconomic benefits criteria.

Don't quite understand the question.  If it's not an intangible asset, what is it? What other options are you considering?

What I am looking for is confirmation that it can be treated as an intangible, if it can not be treated as an intangible it will be expensed per IAS 38.

Does the fact that it will be acquired cause any issues with the capitalisation of the purchase cost for use of the brand?

Thanks.
