BTC Software

BTC Software

Didn't find your answer?

Hi, I have previously asked about recommended all-in-one accounts production, personal tax and corporation tax software that submits to both HMRC and Companies House. I had great feedback and many suggestions. My favourite runner is Digita but it is costly compared to other softwares. I am wondering if anyone can offer any feedback or experience of BTC Software please. It is for a practice.

Many Thanks,

It'll do the job

I use it as a sole practitioner.  I'd say it 'does the job' but it's certainly not an all singing, all dancing solution.  Admittedly though, I use it for little more than filing - really should start managing my workload as a whole through it.

If you have any specific queries please feel free to ask.

I use BTC and VT

And am very happy.  The only times I struggle a bit is when I have a more complex CT return and have to use the more detailed CT software - probably 4-5 times a year.  I find this less user friendly.  For the majority of companies and p4ersonal tax returns it is a breeze though.

I use it, too

Used in combination with VT Accounts it is very good.

The most valuable part is having a software provider that actually listens to their customers and gives them what they want (where possible), rather than some others who ignore their customers wishes.

Couldn't agree more with this.  There was something I wanted BTC practice manager to do that it couldn't, so sent off a suggestion by email to them.  Usually I would expect to hear nothing back, but ended up having a reasonably lengthy and detailed email conversation with one of their developers which ended up with them deciding to implement one of my ideas in their next software release.  Obviously will have to wait and see if it happens and how if works if it does, but being able to speak to BTC about the software and them taking practicioners advice on board is first class service in my opinion

Digita

What I like about Digita Corporation Tax is that there's a Digita Advanced Corporation Tax and this can be used from within Digita Corporation Tax and you only have to pay for the reduced band of clients using it.

BTC

I found BTC early on via VT, I was using Iris at the time, but not for all clients as it is priced according to number of clients.  BTC do not do this, I have needed support just once which shows how easy the software is to use, I can import all the data from VT Accounts Production, less stress and reliable - whats not to like ?

BTC compared to Taxcalc

I currently use TaxCalc and I like the 'simple step' method which guides you through inputting the information.  Is BTC like this or are you left to input directly into the boxes?  I previously used Ftax which was simply inputting into a pdf and I hated it.

I know that alot of people rave about BTC so I will review it next year.

BTC Input

In response to Sarah, BTC is totally compatable with VT, so accounts produced, data imported from accounts, all entered into correct boxes automatically.  There is the option to manually overide anything if required.  I can only report how easy I found it, I have tried lots of software over the years, all improve over time, but BTC is, in my opinion, the best and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

We have used BTC for a couple if years now and think it represents reasonable value for money, though can be a bit "clunky" somtimes.  However it service it's purpose

Does anybody use BTC for more that filing?

As per my original post; I only currently use BTC for the filing aspect of my practice so when I say it does what it says on the ti, I mean exactly that.  I also use VT I should add and the import function is seamless.

I'm interested to know if many others use the full functionality of BTC i.e. full ongoing task management and/or the letters/reports function?

We use the letters/reports function

We don't store them in BTC though. We prefer to pdf them, but it does all you need.

We don't use the tasks, as we have a tried & tested bespoke system that gives us much more information about the progress of tasks. The task management has got to be a help though, if anyone doesn't have a task management system already.

Discussion Group

Hi,

We've got a new discussion group setup for BTC, please do join:

https://www.accountingweb.co.uk/group/btcsoftware-user-group

I really like BTC, they're still developing their product from a Practice Management perspective so although it does quite a good job it is not a polished PM tool, but it is pretty good

Just holding the core information on each client is handy enough for me

For CT600 short forms and using VT it's a real breeze...

Why not download the trial and have a play around

I use the letter templates which is handy so I have built for example a template for my management rep letter which pulls everything in for that company such as year end date, company name etc., so it only takes 30 seconds to generate my management rep letters and save as PDF. I do the same for personal tax questionnaires.

thanks

RM

It's good business practice and soooo sensible!

BTC have seen the light. It is a win-win situation for all.

Why pay people to do research on software improvements when your customers will happily do it for free. End result .... BTC produce software that customers want to buy, and their customers get software that does what they want & need.

I don't understand software providers who don't listen to their customers because they lose out big time ... both on their reputation and the quality of their products.
