Budget, tax rates, allowances etc

Budget, tax rates, allowances etc

Didn't find your answer?

I tend to use some of the time in Feb and Mar updating various spreadsheets and models for upcoming tax rates, allowances, rate bands etc.  The trend over the last few years has been to announce these parameters years in advance, sometimes in the March budget, sometimes in the November "autumn statement", and sometimes just leaked through press releases throughout the year.

As far as I can tell, we have pretty much all of these constants already announced for 2013-14, to a large extent for 2014-15 and some for 2015-16.  But I am getting a bit befuddled about what we are still expecting to be announced for these years in the March 2013 budget statement, what figures have been announced simply as projections based on RPI/CPI estimates but are subject to tweaking, and which figures are definitely cast in stone.

OK, any figures supposedly cast in stone can still be changed, at some embarrassment for the government, but I was wondering if someone would let me know of any figures that fall into the first two categories (not yet announced or expected to change slightly), particularly for 2013-14, but also interested in later years.

With kind regards

Clint Westwood

Hmmmm

The budget has now become a purely political device and, as you observe, most of the changes have already been announced - however expect the Chancellor to announce that the personal allowance for 2014/15 will be increased to £10,000, thus keeping the lib dems happy.  However the automatic indexing provisions still apply so for the other figures the chancellor will, in effect, over-ride automatic indexing.
