Can I claim?

Can I claim?

Didn't find your answer?

Hi,

Client (sister lol) has transformed the side of her house into a dog grooming business and incurred some costs replacing door/double glazing on the side of her house where her clients wander in and out (separate entrance). She said she would not have bothered had she not set up the business, doors and windows looked 'tatty' but not at point of replacement. She only ever used the side of her house of as utility rooms before so cleared them out for the business.

I would have thought then these costs are allowable BUT the council says she doesn't need to pay business rates as she still has a personal washing machine in there so there is a duality aspect here.

 Any thoughts?

Matthew

Capital

Sounds like capital expenditure, so the cost wouldn't be allowed in any event.
