I have a client whose income comes from land & property. Until last year he was employed and therefore had national insurance contributions deducted from salary. He wants to pay national insurance contributions. He should pay voluntary contributions which are £13.55 a week. Could he register as self employed and pay £2.70 a week voluntarily even though he is not self employed. He wants to make enough contributions to qualify for a full state pension. I noticed recently that a client of mine was making class 2 contributions even though he was paying contributions elsewhere, of course HMRC didn't know, so why should they know in other cases?
