Capital Allowance on Company Bicycle

Capital Allowance on Company Bicycle

Didn't find your answer?

A client bought a push bike through his limited company to cycle to the station and to use in London to travel to clients to avoid using his car and the underground. The clients office is his home where the bike is kept. The bike cost around £2k.

I would appreciate some help with the following queries

1. Is there a potential benefit in kind and if so on what calculation

2. What capital allowances can be claimed as the bike has been capitalised i.e. can he claim AIA.

Any help would be appreciated.

Is he the only employee?

1. Probably not. If cycles are provided to employees generally and are used mainly for commuting/business travel, the benefit is exempt. See EIM21664 onwards.

2. Yes.
