Capital Allowance on Heavy Goods Vehicle

Capital Allowance on Heavy Goods Vehicle

Didn't find your answer?

Hi

Sarah Douglas here from Douglas Accountancy and Bookkeeping Services.  I was wondering if someone could help me or point me in the right place to check with the HMRC.    I am actually doing my husbands Ltd companies  CT600 return and I wanted to check something out. It  is a Environmental Disposal Company with a SEPA licence which is not important to this question but just for general info

Here are the details and I was trying to find how much in the first year of capital allowance could he take for a heavy goods vehicle and actually find out the current and present rules as they will buying more trucks in the next year.   I am fine on cars but this is Heavy Goods Vehicle and I wanted to check my facts . Facts below

Accounts Period: 6th April 2012 to 5th April 2013

Second Hand Heavy Goods Vehicle purchased for £11,000 no hire purchase involved brought vehicle outright.  It is a  7.5 tonne truck and is a 58 reg and was put on the road by original owner the second half of 2008

First day of use : 2nd April 2013

Your help would be appreciated or even if someone could point me in the right direction.

Plant
If it's got an engine it's Plant so claim AIA on it for full relief in year 1.

Hi Glennzy

Hi Glennzy

Yes I eventually found the below link in the HMRC using a lorry as an example for Plant and Machinery.

http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/manuals/camanual/ca20006.htm

Yes I will use the AIA on it for full relief.  I just had one of those moments because it was not a car but I was unsure whether to class it has plant and Machinery.   Thank you for the help.
