CCH or Digita

CCH or Digita

Didn't find your answer?

Hi,

We are new practice started last year and we used Digita for first year and coming up for license renewal in near future.

As year has gone it has transpired that lot of functionality are not available in Digita package and you have to subscribe to other software and pay extra fee for functionality, for example to file accounts to companies house Digita account production do not have this functionality and you have to have Digita company secretarial. All the HMRC form are not available in Digita package unless you pay for license for their full blown Practice Management software.

I hate hidden charges and cost and therefore considering changing to some other supplier and would like to know if CCH is any better?

To be fair to Digita their software is very user friendly and support is good but it really gets me going when there are hidden costs are involved.

Any help appreciated and thanks in advance.

Get the rest

Although I take your point I think you will find that it is difficult to know where particular features are in a suite of products. If you went for all the products and took advantage of the integration you wouldn't have this problem. I think you risk going from package to package without any advantage. I have all the Digita software and find it fantastic. If I was you, rather than swapping I would get the rest of the products and take advantage of the integration.

Are you sure these things were 'hidden'?  or did you make assumptions about what would be included with the modules you bought?    Did you ask Digita about the particular features that you wanted?

Moving to a different product suite might just end up with you encountering a different set of 'hidden costs' - Each supplier is different, but all are only too keen to sell you as many modules (features) as possible, so maybe there was a simple miscommunication at the early stages about what you wanted.

If you think you were deliberately misled by your account manager, then talk to them - there are always deals to be done to rectify genuine mistakes (especially if the alternative is to lose you as a client!).

An alternative?

Our practice, Ward Williams, has used CCH software or the previous versions thereof for the last 18 years; we are satisfied both with the software and the service that we get from CCH.  Although cost is important, particularly if you are a new practice, potentially a more important consideration would be the cost savings and value obtained by using existing proven software. Equally important is finding a supplier who has a clear vision of how they can help your firm to grow, and who possess the underlying technology to achieve this end. In these respects, continuing to work with CCH has been the right a decision for us.

CCH

We have also stuck with CCH but are interested in finding out what license fees other firms are paying for practice management purposes. We think the quote we have had is very high and are just asking around to see what people are paying?

Many thanks

Digita

I've been charged £476.16 as a one off increase from 25 to 75 companies and a yearly fee of £169.32. As I said I was paying for a 25 company licence before.

I was talking about Company Secretarial - I don't know why!

Oh ok...we want to increase from 40 to 50 licenses for the timesheet function and they want to charge £2k upfront and £1k annually extra which seems quite steep!

I've only got a one user licence

I would expect increasing by 10 users is a lot more.
