I have recently been informed that an upcoming change will mean that Companies will no longer be able to prepare and submit their own accounts? This is something that I have seen nothing about and seems an onerous change for small Companies.
Can anyone confirm or deny?
Thanks

Who informed you? Was it a seedy firm of accountants trying to get you to sign up with them?
One thing that has happened is that agents will soon be unable to submit company returns using free HMRC software, but that should in no way affect small companies. I have no idea what halblackburn is getting at.
@halblackburn seems intent on being as unhelpful as possible, and I would not waste further time seeking clarification.
No there are no changes in principle to the matter of who can prepare company accounts and submit them to Companies House, HMRC or anywhere else.
Tim has highlighted one change to the availability of a particular software platform, but that affects only agents, not companies themselves, and in any case does not affect anyone's entitlement to prepare and submit accounts - just that they have to move to a different software platform.
