Charity Expenses on SATR

Charity Expenses on SATR

Didn't find your answer?

I have a contact who set-up a charity last year after his daughter was killed. He is employed outside of the charity and has no employment or income from the charity, but by fronting up and being the 'face' of the charity he incurs a number of expenses (particularly travel costs).

Is it possible for him to claim these as costs against his other employment income on his tax return, or gain any form of personal tax relief on them?

Gift Aid?

If he makes a gift aided donation to the charity, the charity can make a gift aid claim. The charity will then have the funds to reimburse his travel expenses. If he is a higher rate tax payer, this would give him some relief.
