Hoping you can help me.
I have a client for whom I am processing a self assessment. He has had a salary of 17k and also rental income (Net profit of £500). During the year, he made payments to charity via his bank account for 3k. When completing his self assessment, I have said that he has given to charity and this opens up another screen where I have the option of entering the amount given. I have put this amount (3k) in the box "Gift Aid Payments made in year to 5th April 2011". This is resulting in a refund of nearly £1200 which sounds abit strange to me. Am i doing something wrong here? Is there a difference between Charity payments made and "Gift Aid"? Shoudl I be putting a different figure in this box?
