Charity - Receiving Give As You Earn donations

Charity - Receiving Give As You Earn donations

Didn't find your answer?

We have someone who has just changed their chosen charity to ours - this is the first person to donate in this way. The lady informs me that she has completed the necessary form and handed it to her employer - however she nor anyone else has requested the charities bank details from me. The donations should have been arriving in our account from september - however we have not had anything yet, and we are a little concerned that the payments will have been lost. Does anyone know if the charity has to do anything to recieve this kind of donation? Are they paid monthly/quarterly/yearly to the charity?

Any advice much appreciated.

Hi there, I work in Payroll Giving (Give As You Earn) so can shed some light on the process for you and how you can track donations......

Each employer contracts a Payroll Giving Agency who administers the scheme for them, it's the agency who you as a charity receive the money from.  (see http://www.apgo.org.uk/apgomembers.php?category=46&ID=46&title=Members    for details of them). As you say the donation was given through Give As You Earn this is the name Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) use for Payroll Giving so I would assume that is the agency the employer is using. However, if you can contact the donor and ask for their employers Payroll Department's phone number you should be able to find out from them which agency they have a contract with. If it is a large employer reply to me and I will know which agency they use and can point you in the right direction.  Give As You Earn donations can take a couple of months to come through, it might be that if you are a smaller charity the Payroll Giving Agency are taking a while to locate you.  You should get the monies through monthly.

Hope this helps, let me know if I can help further.

Thanks for the information Penny.

I believe it is CAF who the employer uses. The lady concerned has since informed me that she contacted someone and the money will be arriving soon.

Thanks again for your help.
