Do you have decorations up, take mince pies into the office, have a bottle of sherry in the office, and generally turn the last week before Christmas into a very relaxed time, or, do you think that the office is strictly for work and Christmas has no place in the office ?

No decorations - sets the alarm off
We have no decorations up, as they swirl in the air currents and set the alarms off. We do, however, have an all staff buffet planned for the last day, and bottles of wine for everyone.
Company policy to raffle all gifts received from suppliers - although they are getting much rarer these days.
We have run a 'mince pie test' - the winners so far are morrisons with corvoisier (spelling?)
Love Decorations
Hi
Yes it is one time of the year . One of ex my clients banned receipts of Christmas cards which I thought was just rude. Some of the card were quite genuine. You still have to do your work but there is nothing nicer then a tree and chilling with staff as long as it is genuine. I really do not see the need to distrust people.
Mind you went to an office one last week and had a sore head the next day, but it was a really good laugh as we did party hard .
Joys of home office
Decorations up, fairy lights, minimal work now the paid stuff is done, games with the dog. I think the Christmas movies on the portable dvd player will start this week to get me in the mood proper and I may have a glass or two of wine every day as well since you mentioned alcohol.
I remember the first practice I was in - there were probably some decorations but we worked up to lunch on Christmas Eve, went out for lunch together then played games in the afternoon. We'd have much preferred to just go home!
Baarh humbug...
...no decorations, work up to next Friday as if nothing is different and then expected to be in the following week save for Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
Another home office ...
no decorations yet as Mrs H has had to work the last two weekends and I'm not allowed to do it by myself. I have been allowed an advent calendar though and the radio is up a notch on usual volume ... well it is Christmas!
I’m in industry and we have
I’m in industry and we have our decorations up, Christmas tree included. Although the office is decorated it doesn’t feel festive – mainly due to the deadlines that need to be met this week. It’s our works Christmas meal on Thursday evening at a Moroccan restaurant, deadlines will be complete and I’m sure that’s when the wind down for Christmas will begin properly.
We are working xmas eve, but it won’t be a full day – usually just an hour or two (which is a pain for me having to do a 50 mile round trip!). I will still look forward to the drive home though on xmas eve, throw the keys in the house and go for a pint or two with my dad and friends down the local.
I agree with Tom123 that gifts from suppliers are rare nowadays. We used to receive enough to give something to each employee by means of raffle with surplus to raffle off for a charity, these days we barely receive enough to have a sip of wine each.
My favourite works Christmas ....
was at my first practice back in the mid eighties. Nice and simple ... stop work at lunchtime and everyone went to the local pub (also a client!) and the partners paid for a free bar and a decent buffet. When the practice grew the budget went up and we were all taken somewhere smarter but nothing ever matched those early days. I think it helped that many of us were of a similar age, will have finished our exams a couple of weeks earlier and office relationships were rife!!
Decorations ...
... went up Monday 3rd, mega mix carols and seasonal song playlist on loop on media player, Works do this pm.
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
So SteveM, which one of the two miserable gits on the left are you?

Very Merry!
Loads of decorations, a bit of xmas music, and we're having an office curry for lunch later in the week (this on top of the evening do a few weeks ago!).
The thought of opting for boring or ordinary when I have can be anything but isn't worth contemplating.
Nothing at all in
the office. Wouldn't know it was Christmas.
Finish on Friday as usual (6.00 pm).
BUT then we all get together on Christmas Day for lunch. All the families invited too!
(Well, we are a family firm and Mrs C wouldn't have it any other way)
Merry Christmas all ;~)
Hell yeah
and we went to Monte Carlo for our xmas party and and andand ..it was less than £150 a head and so the tax man paid his share
XXXX Xmas
Our boss left around Midday to go for a Xmas knees up with his old firm which he left almost two decades ago and left all the other staff to hold the fort for the rest of the day. Of course he wouldn't deign to mix with his own staff, he might have to put his hand in his own pocket!
The few concessions that have been made for Xmas have come from the other staff (usually the female staff if I'm 100% honest). One plus we're not working Xmas Eve, but in for the rest of the time.
Obviously I don't want to sound bitter but with all the whooping and hollering I can hear from outside I basically am bitterly embittered.
Luckily I have the Samaritans on my speed dial list.
Bosses getting rounds in
I've know a few firms where bosses get rounds in and then the other staff do the same. I've then seen their expenses claims when the bosses get the money back but the rest of the staff don't.
reminds me ...
of a late friend of mine, first to the pub and last to the bar.
Dead at 25 (illness) with a mound of cash in the bank - salutary lesson there methinks
Family business and joy
My son and I managed a suasage roll and a pint in an extended 45 minute pub lunch, but now to start celebrating in true style. Just finishing Friday night 6ish and a bit to do on Christmas Eve and back to it mid next week.
No decorations in the office, but our street is ablaze with lights criss crossing up the street as we look up the hill towards rhe village pub from the office.
Merry Christmas all at AW.

Thats not very good.
Is he retiring? If so I will buy it and you can come to ours next year, not sure where yet but in the last few years we have been to Oslo, Chamonix, Venice, Amsterdam, Montecarlo
