Didn't find your answer?

IDownloaded the CIS305 form and notes and the notes state you can register online, clicked on the link but been round the HMRC website for what seems like hours and can't find the correct area to actually register.

Does anyone have the link where I can go to register a client company as a CIS Subcontractor please?

Thanks

Thanks, did that in the end and not allowed to register the company because I am the agent. Director failed the security test so now have to register by paper.

quickest way to register is by telephone.. However, the preparation before the phone call, is to download paper copy of form, and get all your answers together first.

another BUT.. if there is any complication at all with your registration or circumstances.. then hmrc may well say, please do the application by sending in the form.

summary: a telephone application may succeed, and is by far the quickest method... as long as all is "straightforward". An example of a ltd company application that did not go straightforward for me, was tha tone of the 4 Directors was an overseas resident and not a uk taxpayer, and therefore, did not have a UTR. As he did not have a UTR, [and legally he did not need to have one], the telephone application failed!!

Hi Jaffe.. you are welcome. Well, I just wanted to make an input, as I work in the Industry.

In fact, I have just sent off the form [305 form], to re apply for gross payment status. . Its been two weeks now since HMRC received the form. They cannot [or will not] tell me an average turnaround time... any ideas?

Nigel

I have found that it is easier to get the client to ring HMRC on the CIS helpline. They get registered within about 7 days if they give all the right info. (Company UTR, Registered Office, PAYE ref, Director details etc.) I give them a sheet with all the details.
If they fail then they give HMRC authority to talk to me and I will then go through the rest of the info with HMRC.
Would be much easier if HMRC allowed me to talk to them in the first place.

Forgot to add that with the form it can take up to 8 weeks.
Their post backlog is ridiculous.
