CIS verification system unresponsive

CIS verification system unresponsive

Didn't find your answer?

I've tried to verify a couple of subcontractors this morning for different companies and have received a response telling me that they are processing it and to try later. I've called them and they've said that several people have reported the same problem.

Universal problem

I have been trying to file final EPS's and Employers Allowance registration - most have gone on hold and the odd one went through on each attempt. The error was timing out.

I spoke to the online helpdesk who said that not only was the website going very slowly the government gateway was vey bust so all he could suggest was to wait awhileand then keep shopping

I assume that CIS is part of the PAYE system too and has the same issues

Telephone Verification

Phone verification is working fine.  Although you can only deal with ten subbies at a time.

Employment Allowance

 - I wasn't aware that you had to register (ref mhtax); all the instructions which I have seen say that it is just a case of deducting the allowance from what is paid to HMRC!

Does anyone know if the £2k is taxable in the company's profits?

SATR's

BTC hasn't picked up a response from HMRC on the last couple of SATR's i've done this afternoon although earlier was fine.  I've had emails from HMRC on both occasions though to say they've rec'd them so i'll just pop it on diary for Mon/Tues to check the Gateway.

Employment Allowance

I use Basic Tools and we are ticking to claim the allowance and it goes in on an EPS.

I don't think the allowance itself  is taxable but because it means you pay less NIC the deduction is smaller in the accounts/tax return
