Claims and elections made by companies

Claims and elections made by companies

Didn't find your answer?

Is it acceptable to make certain claims and elections without physically signing and posting them? For example, I understand some people attach s171A claims as part of the submission packages to HMRC and get these 'signed' via electronic approval - no physical signing takes places. As long as the right people approve the claims and these are submitted to HMRC (albeit electrically) this seems to be accepted by HMRC. Any one do this themselves? Any come back from the revenue?

I suggest you look to HMRC's own guidance as to how to make claims e.g. they confirm some claims (such as holdover relief) can be attached as a pdf - however, I beleive they still need to be signed, but you save on the posting!
