Class 2 NIC

Class 2 NIC

Didn't find your answer?

I had thought that Class 2 NI was being abolished from April 2016 and that this might have been confirmed in the Autumn Statement.

However the NI Rates published yesterday by The Treasury for 2016/17 show Class 2 NI rates at £2.80 per week.

So it looks like this will still exist next year (albeit now collected through SA)

Do others agree?

I didn't think it was going to be abolished.

My understanding was that it was only the collection method that had changed.

I thought so too

I thought it was being abolished too.

In fact there were two lots of DD going out of my bank account ie two people & one stopped automatically a few months ago but the other is still continuing.

So, I'm not sure what it going on and I've not got round to investigating it yet.

Me too
I understood it was still in force but now through SA.

People who have become self employed since 5 April 2015 seem to be in no man's land, some being billed and others completely forgotten about.

Announced in March
It was announced in the March budget, that Class 2 would be abolished.

Not sure how/when this was supposed to be legislated.
