Is Client just unlucky

Is Client just unlucky

Didn't find your answer?

I received an enquiry into my Clients 2011 SA concerning property income and property brokerage asking questions re loans addresses of properties etc fairly normal stuff but the problem was that an enquiry into his 2008 return was finished in April 2011 (commenced in 2009 and delayed by 2 changes of Inspector)

The only change was to increase a loss leading to an additional tax repayment of £167.50.

Is it reasonable that this case has been picked up so soon after settlement. My Client thinks that the revenue are p***** at not getting any thing the last time.

Has anyone any experience in a similiar case or have any suggestions how to proceed.

We had a similar situation when a client LTD company had an investigation into the 2007 return,it was clear the new /young inspector didn't believe the level off profits , but after a few letters the inquiry was ended with no adjustments.

The 2009 return received a similar investigation from a different region , we wrote to HMRC giving the reference of the previous inquiry and suggested before they proceeded they may want to review the file and maybe discuss it with the previous inspector.

They wrote back saying that they would not be proceeding with the inquiryand there would be no adjustments to the return.
