It's that time of year already - we're looking for nominations for our community awards.
For a bit more on the categories and requirements, etc, please see the blog we've just popped up on the blog section!
The first category is Tax/Technical Whiz of the Year. Do you know anyone on the site who is really knowledgeable and gives great, technical answers? Or a complete whizkid when it comes to taxation?
We want to celebrate them with an award. But to pick the best one, we need some nominations - so please comment below and let us know who you think deserves the prize.
When we've got enough nominations, I will put a poll in a comment below and you can then vote for your choice.
Nominations are now closed - but voting is open at the bottom of the page and will close around the 18th.

Tax/Technical Whiz of the Year.
Portia - Intelligence and wit. A fantastic combination.
If only I had Portia's talent!
Portia, is there also an award for tolerance, I would like to vote for her in that category. I strongly believe that this is a virtue that she is not given true recognition for .
Steve Kesby is brilliant, but he hasn't made much of an appearance this year. Therefore my vote goes to Johngroganjga - equal technical ability but has given hours of his time to posters of this site all year.
Kesby
Despite a noted lack of posting in recent months Steve is still a shining star...
Portlier is is certainly knowledgeable but (s)he has a lot of traits we could do without here. Also seems to only have appeared in last 3 months. I haven't been here much this year so may be wrong there :)
Steve Kesby
So many really knowledgeable people, Euan, Johngroganjga, Fawlty Basil, Portia, BKD, to name but a few, but it's Steve for me.
Everyone takes time out now and again.
Quite a few excellent contributors on this forum.
But my nomination would go to Steve Kesby also.
Scores from the Borg
Best tax Brain - Steve Kesby (I think he is still around)
The alternative farmer johngroganga definitely deserves at least one award (probably more) for his broad knowledge and huge work rate. Hopefully there will be some suitable categories. Best accountant?
Money laundering and crime award - David Winch (who else?)
Award for cultural understanding and tolerance (sponsored by ISIS) - Portia
Award for secretly amusing posts, that we shouldn't always admit to finding amusing - Portia
Award for PAYE and Audit Regulations guru - Euan
Award for common sense - OGA
Comedian of the Year - Bob
I also like stepurhan's immaculately logical responses, worthy of some sort of award.
Fawlty basil
Mr Basil is not perfect but I find his technical ability is complemented by pragmatism and a dignity not always evident with other learned replies. Posts are often very detailed and, refreshingly, there is no implied criticism of or mockery towards the OP.
Mr Kesby has been quiet of late, probably out earning good money.
Euan would certainly get my vote on matters concerning PAYE.
I love OGA and I would happily nominate him for '1950s man'
Portia is a hoot. Like a good drag queen should be. His poisoned pen is deserving of an award, but it is not this one.
Another vote for Portia
I am not convinced that anybody else actually knows what they are talking about!
Got to be Steve Kesby
Steve is always helpful and authoritative - seems to know all the legislation and cases.
David Winch a close second for MLR and other legal issues. Always pops up when you need him.
Portia has been very helpful on PPR and other property issues, but has only been posting for a few months so could be in the running next year.
If it was for the last few years I would vote for Rebecca Benneyworth for all the tireless work she puts in. Paul Scholes deserves a mention in dispatches too for his commonsense posts.
Ability with out
I have been voting for years, but not now this year.
Majority nominated names lack humility and often trash posters for their lack of knowledge.
I have seen lots of people being ridiculed by the experts. I am sure lots of others wants to participate on this forum, but terrified by the language used by the experts.
I am a member of many other forums. When I joined the forums, I agree to abide by the rules:
Not to be-little and rude to other members.
If a question appears too easy or basic for you, do not ridicule others who lack your skills and talent and if you do not want to answer a question, just skip it.
Most of the nominees are polite.

Well said, Cantona1. The only thing I would disagree with is that the majority nominated here are rude. I would say the majority are very polite.
John Grogan
Another vote for John Grogan.
I like your suggestions Locutus. We will have to watch out for the other categories then.
Nomination
fawltybasil2575 - It does sometimes seem like he is trying to write an essay, but that is usually because he is trying to cover all the angles.
