Just a thought that often runs through my head.
Does somebody at Companies House actually cast an eye over submitted Abbreviated Accounts. Hence why they are not approved at the weekend.
Not important but just gets me thinking sometimes

From those I have seen
From those that I have viewed/ downloaded online, and one set I once had rejected, they do not appear to be very particular regarding the entries in the accounts and whether sufficient notes are evident, but they do appear to be paranoid regarding both the wording below the balance sheet and that the name/date/status of the person signing is clearly stated.
A signed set which did not state who signed was rejected. (This was the mistake I made once)
The impression I get is that when Annual Returns or accounts are submitted online they are reviewed by a computer program which (presumably) checks that all the necessary elements are present - but would not (presumably) apply any 'common sense' check as to whether the figures or information are realistic.

I have seen a case where a small business owner having prepared DIY accounts submitted the abbreviated accounts online on the CoHo website and filled in the space requiring accounting policies with ' no clue what this is about'. The accounts were accepted!!
I find ...
... when I file overnight or at the weekend they are accepted first thing next working day so it would seem more they are stored when submitted out of hours and then processed when they are staff there to deal with any issues that arise.
