Companies House changes - personal address history

Companies House changes - personal address history

Didn't find your answer?

Companies House (CH) are running a new beta search which shows a Directors [residential] address history.  Prior to this the current registered office was displayed and further details were provided on request.  Directors used a service address after 2009, for their residential address, and publicy a registered office could be provided.  This new search reveals the previous addresses, bypassing the service address change.

Furthermore, Directors who incorporate after October this year benefit from more security against fraud in terms of date of birth (only month/year stored).  Also, when they provide a service address for this newly-incorporated business, it will not be found using Companies House's new search.

Clearly there is more privacy and safety for Directors, in terms of card fraud and identity theft, for companies formed later this year.  In addition, the details held by thousands of third party companies holding and selling Directors personal details, would become redundant for anyone closing and re-registering their company.

Anyone care to offer the most efficient way to re-register a business?

Not totally sure what you mean. Would a director resigning and then being reappointed have his home addresses available ?

Maybe not on this directors' history service - but anyone could still go through and obtain the old appointment forms (288a etc) or annual returns.

There's no new information available  its just cheaper an easier to find

Well, quite, the number of people who would pay for further info is close to nil. That protected previous registered addresses now listed as a service address, and improved privacy.  Now it's wide-open to fraud.

@bernard resigning and reappointing would make no difference - it's the company address history on show (often Director's residential addresses).

Question is, how to wrap up the company and start again in the most efficient way?
