Contemplating leaving our Clearing bank

Contemplating leaving our Clearing bank

Didn't find your answer?

Folks, what with one thing and another our Group of companies is contemplating ditching our Clearing bank for one of the Nordic banking concerns. Ahead of our final meeting/signing letters of intent I would be interested in the experiences any AWeb members have had dealing with members of the Nordic banking variety. Especially from those in a similar position to ourselves having left a high street bank and took up with one of them and now in that post - Honeymoon period.

Swedbank

I have no experience with them in a business banking relationship, although have flirted with Handelsbanken but the relationship was not consummated.

However I have a house in Sweden and hold an personal account with Swedbank in the local town. The service level is very high, the branch is pleasant (comfy sofas whilst waiting and a ticket system to the tellers) and their online banking services were ,when we opened the account eight years ago ,well ahead of the UK, however UK online accounts are catching up.

No cheque book used, everyone paid online or by using bank/debit card.

The bank were also the selling agent for the property we purchased and on settlement there were ourselves (English speaking) the sellers (German speaking) and the bank staff/ selling agent (Swedish speaking). The ability to fluently handle a meeting in three languages was really pretty impressive.

Whilst none of the above probably helps you with considering using a UK based nordic bank, it hopefully is an indicator of the sort of service level you may expect.
