Credit against UK NI for NI paid to EEC Countries

Credit against UK NI for NI paid to EEC Countries

Didn't find your answer?

My client is a self employed consultant in the aero-engineering industry. He works and lives in the UK but on a contract basis for a Spanish company with no presence in the UK. The Spanish company pay my client after deducting Spanish National Insurance. He will, of course, pay UK tax and NI on that income. Can he offset the Spanish NI paid against his UK tax and NI?

He will pay UK tax (less any tax paid at source in Spain) but I don't think UK NI is payable on income arising outside of the U.K. is it?
