CURRENT VERSION OF p45

CURRENT VERSION OF p45

Didn't find your answer?

HI - simple (I hope) question:

found a stack of paper P45s which have version number HMRC 04/08 printed bottom right.

Tried in vain for about an hour to find out from the font of all knowledge (general internet / google including what passes for HMRC's new website!) to no avail.

I do payroll for several tiny employers (no funny remarks please, you KNOW what I mean! ;) and paper P45s are useful when someone leaves - it's just easier to write it out than try to faff & print one sometimes.

But is this version the current one? Confirmation one way or the other gratefully received.

Thank you

Don't take the chance

I can't think of any changes, but why take the chance? It looks like you can still order paper P45s online so I'd stick to doing that rather than risk using an out-of-date form.

I am wondering why you find writing one out easier though. You have to enter leaver details into any payroll software you are using to submit under RTI. Is it really an enormous faff to print off a P45? Guarantees using the reported figure as well, whereas you risk writing some down incorrectly.

It's not latest version

Client made redundant 29/6/12 was given P45 with ref HMRC 10/08 which is a later version.  I agree with stepurhan - get the up to date ones.
