Dates and pivot tables

If in a range of data used for a pivot table there's a column for dates, how can the pivot table be amended to show the dates grouped as months instead of the individual dates?

Assuming you're using 2007 version, click in to the column that has the dates then select Group on the Pivot Table Tools area at the top and then select months

or if it is 2003 you can add 1 thanks

or if it is 2003 you can add a column using the month() function on your date column and use that in the pivot table

in 2003 as well as later versions.

Right click in the column of dates in the pivot table. Choose Group and Show Deatil and then Group. Normally you will want to select Months and Years from the options.
