I have taken on a new client. She lives in Nottingham , married - they have a mortgage etc. She works as an employee for a company in London. As a direct result of this employment she rents an flat in London . She has asked me to check if she can claim deductibility of the flat. Any suggestions ? Was inclined to say no initially but having second thoughts to make a deeper review.

Simple...
No.
Sounds like she is a permanent employee of the company in London and as such would not qualify for relief on temporary accommodation expenditure.
