Do HMRC give false information

Do HMRC give false information

Didn't find your answer?

Contacted employer help line, am of Thu 30 Jul 15, requesting they re-issue the employer details as not received by client.

Got a call from the client this morning saying they had received no information. My response being that it may take up to 2 weeks.

Later this afternoon, client e-mailed the new employer details.

Nearly fell off my chair, 3 working days response. Wow, have HMRC pulled their finger out for once.

Err sorry, must be dreaming. The letter is dated the 3 Aug 15??

They don't really post date their letters do they.

They always have

Though they used to only be post dated by one day. Mind you, that was back in the days when unanswered post of more than 14 days old was practically a hanging offence.

Problem

I don't have a problem with this.

What I do have a problem with is getting letters dated a month beforehand, giving you a month to reply.

At least you should have an unbreakable system for date stamping eevery letter that arrives in the post or by hand. That then gives you evidence if required in the instance you quote

I can date stamp a letter "Received 4th August 1915".  Doesn't mean I date stamped in on that date.

Nothing's "unbreakable".  At some point, you rely on people's integrity.
