Dormant but not informed HMRC

Dormant but not informed HMRC

Didn't find your answer?

I have just taken on a client who has started to trade but when Ive checked online the company has an active accounting period with HMRC for the previous 12 months.  Can anyone advise if it is ok to file a CT600 with dormant accounts attached for that period in question?  I notice in VT (in Excel) that there is a dormant accounts option which I have never used before.  The accounts are due by the end of the month and dont trust HMRC to act on a letter, with a little over a week to file, to them stating the company is dormant.

If the company is dormant

then no return is due, in this situation I just phone HMRC, tell them the company was dormant and let them know when trading started.
