Electric Vehicle company car battery rental - how is it taxed?

Electric Vehicle company car battery rental -...

Didn't find your answer?

Hello everyone. I have a client with an electric company car (owner-managed Ltd co). Does anyone know whether the monthly battery rental cost is considered part of the cost of the vehicle for tax purposes, or is it a fuel cost? Thanks!

Many thanks! So the battery rental cost can be treated as a business expense without being a benefit in kind, since the BIK will be calculated on the list price. Does it matter that presumably the battery will be replaced periodically at no extra cost other than the normal rental? Will that effectively be a new accessory each time they replace it?

Still now I was aware about a car rental but this is quite interesting to read about a car battery rental. Really it's very useful for a needy car owner. Sometimes we face battery problem suddenly, it's really impossible to buy a car battery especially in case of an electric car. I appreciate this as it is very effective and gives immediate support. Thanks for sharing such valuable information.
