Employee has an EIS (Enterprise Investment Scheme) certificate

Employee has an EIS (Enterprise Investment...

Didn't find your answer?

An employee who doesn't complete a SA tax return, has received an EIS certificate.  I believe that his PAYE code should be adjusted accordingly.  Is this just a simple matter of sending the form into our PAYE office?

Any guidance on this would be appreciated.

Still requires a return I believe

You can write and request a change of tax code to obtain the relief earlier, but you still need to make the claim under self assessment I believe. HMRC have a guidance sheet for EIS schemes where I read that.

I imagine you want to be helpful to your employee but strictly this is nothing to do with you as an employer.  It's between the employee and HMRC.  If you write or phone you will be ignored because you are not her agent.

All you need to do is keep your arms folded and then implement a coding change as and when HMRC instruct you to do so.
