Engagement Letter

Engagement Letter

Didn't find your answer?

Hi all

We've just picked up a pro-bono client which is a very small unregistered charity which is Limited by Guarantee.

The partner who has accepted this engagement has done so not knowing much at all about Charities - pretty typical to be honest.

Just wondering if anyone knew what the form of the Engagement Letter should be?  We use Mercia templates and i'm looking in SAM - Charities 9.2 at section 3 which is the independant examination section and think the correct appendix to tailor is the Limited company one but there's also a CIO (?) example?

Can anyone confirm/clarify before I bite the bullit and call technical help?

Many thanks

Surely if you or the engagement partner don't know the answer to this question you don't have the technical competency to deliver the service!? I wouldn't mention ethics if you ring the technical helpline.

But in the spirit of the forum you don't need the CIO letter as the company is limited by guarantee. Are you going to undertake an independent examination, just prepare accounts with an accountant's certificate or is an audit required? You'll only find that out by checking the charity's governing document or mem and arts.

Ltd Co

Use the Ltd Co one - CIO is a different beast to a Company Limited by Guarantee

p.s. what is a bullit?

Clearly a typo - bullet!

Clearly a typo - bullet!

With regards to the questioning of technical competency, I clearly knew the answer and was merely seeking some comfort that I was correct so thanks for the help.

Oh how satisfying it must be to consider one's self perfect!

No further replies needed thank you.
